British Council’s transcontinental digital arts programme AMPLIFY Digital Arts Initiative is back for MUTEK Montréal’s 22nd edition between August 24th and September 5th. Joining the cohort of over 80+ artists from the UK, Canada and Latin America, AMPLIFY D.A.I extends its network to welcome digital artists from Brazil, along with new partners Oi Futuro and Artlab.

Featured for the first time at MUTEK Montréal, collaborative projects between Argentinian artists AVR010 and Emilia Monin and AMPLIFY D.A.I artists PRIFMA and Efe Ce Ele will be presented as part of a new production residency led by Artlab. This past March, the artists were provided cutting-edge technology, mentoring, and workshops to merge their unique aesthetics into a seamless whole. Following MUTEK Montréal, the audiovisual projects will go on to be presented at Museos Argentinos Sonando, and Brazilian festivals Multiplicidade, Novas frecuencias and Amazonia Mapping.

In addition to the outputs of the new residency, several AMPLIFY D.A.I artists and alumni of the programme will be performing, exhibiting new work, and participating in an online forum during MUTEK Montréal. Outputs from the AMPLIFY Digital Collaboration Fund, launched in 2020, will also be presented in their current stages of development during the festival. Despite the many months of the ongoing global pandemic, the AMPLIFY D.A.I programme has continued to offer opportunities and connections between artists and looks forward to furthering these opportunities into 2021-2022.

AMPLIFY D.A.I 2021-22 is an initiative of the British Council in partnership with MUTEK Montréal, MUTEK Buenos Aires, Artlab in Argentina, Oi Futuro in Brazil and Somerset House Studios in the UK. The programme is supported by Canada Council for the Arts, Instituto Nacional de la Música of Argentina and Fundación Williams
