The Aakash Odedra Company is participating at the 2016 edition of PuSh Festival in Vancouver at the end of January. Aakash Odedra is an award-winning contemporary dancer trained in the Indian classical forms of kathak and bharata natyam. He uses these ancient forms of dance and incorporates them into contemporary performance styles.
For the first two evenings of the festival, Odedra will present two performances, Inked and Murmur, which explore conceptions and misconceptions of identity. A post-show talk will follow his performance on January 20 where the artist will participate in a question and answer period. Additionally, Odedra will host a workshop on January 21 on performance practices and new technologies. He will create a lab environment to demonstrate the specific analog and digital technologies used in the creation of his choreographies.
