For its 17th edition, in partnership with the Edinburgh Book Festival and the Scottish Poetry Library, Montreal’s Poetry Festival is proud to welcome Scotland as its honored guest for the first time, therefore claiming the city’s heritage by renewing it. This project, which falls within the QC-UK Connections exchange program, is supported by the Government of Quebec, through the Culture Ministry and the Quebec’s Council for arts and letters (CALQ) and the British Council.
As the honored guest, Scotland occupies the heart of the 2016 Festival, which will last from May 31 to June 5. Three major activities are dedicated to Scotland during the festival, the biggest one being the launch of a joint publication with the Scottish Poetry Library. Readings by the three invited Scottish poets, namely Peter Mackay, Rachel McCrum (2015 BBC Scotland poet in residence) and Jennifer Williams, are also planned for this event.
