Presented at OPTICA, centre d’art contemporain in Montreal from April 18 to June 13, 2015, Polyphonies is an exhibition curated by Véronique Leblanc that stages a plurality of voices while bringing together the work of eight artists including two duos. Whether based on documentary approaches (interviews, surveys) resembling anthropological field studies or revolving around the invention of fictional situations in which archives of various kinds are played out, the orchestration of speech in the artists’ propositions creates a disjunctive gap with the documented reality.
In this exhibition, British artists Dave Ball and Oliver Walker are recreating the Dinner Party project with Montreal guests. It is a participatory live art project that calls upon eight characters who have never met and who accept to take part in a “mediatized” discussion gathered around a meal served by the artists.
Schedule of Dinner Parties: In French: April 15, 17, 20 and 22 In English: April 16 and 21
