Since 2018, the AMPLIFY Digital Arts Initiative has hosted 80 women-identifying artists and professionals representing 8 different nationalities.
Designed to foster connections, networking and career opportunities, and create solidarity between participants, the program offers capacity building sessions that address digital skills, discursive activities that highlight artistic practice and social issues, while providing showcasing opportunities that transcend the north-south geographic axis
A transcontinental circuit of festivals, events and institutions extends through Canada, Latin America and the UK, serving as the meeting points and activation sites for each cohort. Across 5 different countries now, this has included MUTEK festivals in Montréal, Buenos Aires and Mexico City, Somerset House Studios in London, Espacio Fundación Telefónica in Lima, Peru, and satellite activities at MUTEK Barcelona and MUTEK Japan.
AMPLIFY D.A.I is an initiative of the British Council in partnership with MUTEK Montréal, MUTEK Buenos Aires, Artlab, Oi Futuro, and Somerset House Studios. The programme is supported by Canada Council for the Arts, Instituto Nacional de la Música and Fundación Williams. Previous cohorts have been supported by: Conseil des arts de Montréal, Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, and INAMU – and have been presented at MUTEK Mexico and Espacio Fundación Telefónica in Lima, Peru.
