As part of Outriders, created by Edinburgh International Book Festival and supported by British Council in Canada, the writers and poets Harry Giles and Katherena Vermette travelled from Montreal, through Winnipeg, to Churchill last April. They were interested in looking at the complexities of regional and minority languages, as well as the connections to the Orkney culture that remains present in that region. Following their presentation at Edinburgh International Book Festival this month, Katherena and Harry will return to Winnipeg for the Winnipeg Writers Fest to share the nature of their collaboration and research on intercultural history of Scottish and Metis people.

This event will be in the form of a panel discussion, organized by the festival, as well as with local poetry and Scottish organizations.
