Image Cripping the Stage - A Disability Arts Cabaret

Presented by the British Council, Tangled Art + Disability, Invisible Flash and the Harbourfront Centre, Cripping the Stage is a cabaret that will shake the Brigantine room at the Harbourfront Centre on the evening of April 30, 2016. The British Council is a key partner in Unlimited, the deaf and disabled arts commissioning programme in the UK. We aim to facilitate the creation of networks for disability arts and assist with the development of skills and policy for the support of artists, producers and presenters globally.

Featuring cutting-edge talent from Canada and the United Kingdom, the event puts disabled performers centre stage and celebrates Cripping the Arts, a symposium exploring disability arts, access, aesthetics, and justice. The three-day event seeks to advance Deaf and Disability Arts in Canada, and enliven the vibrancy of Canadian culture.

Cripping the Stage will showcase music, performance and stand-up comedy by:

Alex Bulmer (CA/UK),  Liz Carr (UK), Laurence Clark (UK), Mat Fraser (UK), masti khor (CA), The Mighty Rhino (CA), jes sachse (CA), Lynx Sainte-Marie (CA) and Syrus Marcus Ware (CA).
