We are thrilled to announce a special call for proposals for Québec-UK Connections to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the British Council in Canada. The Québec-UK Connections scheme, funded in partnership by the British Council and the Gouvernement du Québec, promotes international exchange projects involving artists, directors, authors, and other cultural workers. Through funding and support, we encourage a cultural dialogue leading to better mutual understanding between the two societies.
In a time of global change and turbulence, the British Council is incredibly proud to be celebrating its 60th year of work with Canada. The relationship between the two countries is layered and prolific, which has given depth and complexity to our work over the last 60 years. This work has taken form in a wide array of projects in the arts and civic engagement, including trainings across Canada in social innovation or inclusive theatre practises, international projects in digital arts and VR, and funds for international collaborations such as the Québec-UK Connections.
The British Council’s work is based on building meaningful, enduring and respectful relationships across different cultures. We cannot do this without a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and what better ground to achieve this work than Canada, a nation proud to open its doors to people from all over the world. We look forward to the next 60 years of continuing to create a cultural bridge between Canada and the UK based on mutuality, integrity and trust.
In celebration of the relationship between Québec and the United Kingdom and of the 60th anniversary of the British Council in Canada, we are pleased to invite you to submit an application for financial support to carry out a research trip between Québec and the UK in 2019 and 2020.
